Student Life
At Brighton Secondary College, engagement, wellbeing and opportunity go hand in hand — empowering every student to connect, grow, lead and thrive both inside and beyond the classroom.

Student Leadership
Leadership at Brighton Secondary College is encouraged, valued, and accessible to all. We believe leadership is a skill that can be learned and developed through empathy, confidence, communication, and teamwork.
Students are supported to find their own leadership identity by building confidence, taking responsibility, and contributing positively to our school and wider community. Opportunities exist across all year levels — formally and informally — where involvement is encouraged, potential is nurtured, and connectedness is strengthened.
Each year, all students are invited to apply for the Leadership Camp, a chance to begin their leadership journey and grow as active, engaged members of the Brighton community. We remind our students that you don’t need a badge to be a leader — leadership is about action, influence, and making a positive difference.

Camps and Experiences
At Brighton Secondary College, camps and tours are an integral part of our students’ learning journey, helping them develop independence, resilience, and strong connections with peers and teachers.

Sports
Sport is a vibrant part of life at Brighton Secondary College, with all students given the opportunity to participate at every level, from social and recreational involvement through to elite, high-level competition.
In Years 7 and 8, students join in PASE (Physical Activity and Sport Education) one afternoon per week, while in Years 9–12 they compete in inter-school round robin days. In both formats, students can select a different sport each term, including soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball, tennis, baseball, cricket, netball, AFL and more.
BSC proudly runs inter-house sporting competitions, including our whole-school Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, fostering house spirit, friendly rivalry, and a strong sense of community.
In 2026, our Senior Soccer Team were crowned State Champions, and two of our Hockey teams proudly reached the State Finals — an outstanding achievement.

Clubs
Our Student Clubs program offers something for everyone, with a diverse range of opportunities including Debating Club, Games Club, Gym Club, Volleyball Club, Safe Space Alliance (SSA), Chess Club, J-Lunch, and Badminton Club. Open to all students, clubs provide a fantastic way to meet teachers and make new friends across different year levels, with new clubs regularly established based on student interests — ensuring there is always something exciting to explore and be part of.

Performing Arts
Performing Arts is a vibrant and valued part of life at Brighton Secondary College. All Year 7 students participate in Performing Arts as part of their weekly curriculum, building confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills through performance and practical learning. By Year 9, students can choose Performing Arts as an elective, allowing them to further develop their talents and explore areas of personal interest.
Beyond the classroom, every student has the opportunity to shine on stage through our major co-curricular events. Each year, students can take part in either our full-scale School Production or Brighton’s Got Talent. These much-anticipated events bring our community together and provide students with the chance to perform, work behind the scenes, and experience the excitement of live theatre.

Extra Curricular Activities
Brighton Secondary College offers a dynamic range of extra-curricular opportunities that allow students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and connect with others beyond the classroom. From our vibrant Music Program — including instrumental tuition, songwriting, and music production — to our high-performance Basketball Academy, students are supported to grow in confidence, creativity, teamwork, and resilience.
